Overview
What does Quiz Generator do?
Paste a longer passage and choose how many questions you want (6 by default). The tool selects the most substantial sentences and turns each one into a question prompt you can answer from memory.
It is a question prompter rather than a graded exam: cover the answer, attempt it, then reveal the original sentence to check yourself.
Under the hood
How does it work?
The tool splits your text into sentences, keeps the ones that are long enough to carry real content (more than four words and twenty characters), and converts the first ones you asked for into questions. Each question is a truncated version of the sentence with a question mark, so it points at a specific fact from your material.

Technical information
How the details work
Sentences are detected with a regular expression that splits on sentence-ending punctuation. The tool filters out fragments shorter than four words or twenty characters, which removes headings and labels, then converts the selected sentences into questions by appending a question mark.
Privacy & security
Your data stays yours
All processing happens locally in your browser. Your study material is never uploaded or stored.
Local processing — files stay in your browser
- Quiz generation runs on your device with no network requests.
- Nothing you paste is saved after the tab is closed.
- No account or API key is required.
Limitations
What this tool does not do
- Questions are direct conversions of your sentences — they cannot synthesize new ones or grade answers.
- The tool needs a substantial passage; a few short lines will not produce a useful quiz.
- Question quality depends on how clearly your material is written.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Quiz Generator
How many questions should I generate?
Start with 6. If your passage covers several topics, raise the count to make sure each topic is represented.
Does it provide answers?
The questions come from your sentences, so the answers are in your original passage. Use your notes to check yourself.
Can it grade my answers?
No — it generates practice prompts only. Grading is up to you or a study partner.
Is my material private?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
What makes a good input?
Full, factual sentences — the kind found in textbook prose — produce the best questions. Sparse bullet lists do not.
