Overview

What does Income Tax Calculator (FY 2025-26) do?

Type your annual income on the first line and the tool returns the estimated tax and the total including cess. It follows the FY 2025-26 new-regime slabs: no tax up to 4 lakh, 5% from 4 to 8 lakh, 10% from 8 to 12 lakh, 15% from 12 to 16 lakh, 20% from 16 to 20 lakh, 25% from 20 to 24 lakh, and 30% above 24 lakh. Income up to 12 lakh receives the full rebate, so the estimate is zero there.

The output is a quick estimate for planning — it does not consider deductions, exemptions, or the old regime.

Under the hood

How does it work?

The tool parses your income, finds which new-regime slab it falls into, and applies the formula for that bracket: a fixed base amount for the slabs below, plus the marginal rate on the income above the bracket's threshold. The 4% cess is added on top to produce the total.

Technical information

How the details work

The calculator implements the FY 2025-26 new-regime slabs as a stepped function. For income above 24 lakh, the tax is 3,00,000 plus 30% of the excess; each lower bracket is a fixed amount plus the marginal rate on the excess. Income up to 12 lakh falls within the new-regime rebate, so the computed tax is zero. Cess is added as 4% of the computed tax.
